I don’t wear makeup very often. I have sensitive skin and after years of wearing makeup every day to work (working an an esthetician, at a cosmetic counter and finally in a professional office), I decided to give my poor, ol’ face a break. I also have rosacea and a lot of cosmetics can aggravate the condition or cause a flare-up.
When I do wear makeup, it tends to be the kind that is gentle and non-irritating. Recently I received a sample pack of mineral makeup and a full sized lip gloss from Lynne Cooper, a Younique Presenter. Younique is the first direct-sales company to market and sell almost exclusively through the use of social media. They’ve pioneered Younique Virtual Parties bridge the huge world of social media and the traditional home-party business model. No going to a friends house for “a facial” and then realizing that you are just washing your own face and putting on your own make up, or having to hang out uncomfortably with a group people you don’t know.
I looked through the catalog to see what colors would look best on my skin and with the type of colors I usually wear and I settled on: Sexy for my brow bone, Infatuated for my crease, and Crushed for my liner. To see the complete array of Moodstruck Mineral Pigment Powders available, click here. I like that the powder is loose, and it’s easy to use wet or dry, and you can even mix colors to create your own custom color.
I used the Fabulous Moodstruck Mineral Concealer in lieu of my usual liquid foundation. It was a little darker than my current powder, but it was the closest color in the sample packets that I received.
The Lucrative Lip Gloss I received was Lovesick, and I’m loving it! It’s not goopy or sticky, and have the perfect amount of pigment.
Here is my look after I completed the look with my own mascara:
Overall, Younique is easy to use, and a little goes a long way. And for the price, it’s a pretty good value. Because it is pigment rich, a little goes a long way, so when you are starting out with mineral cosmetics, use a light hand, unless you like a dramatic look all the time.
I’m not wearing blush, although I received blush samples. I don’t wear blush ever. I have a mild case of rosacea, so my skin is pink-ish already, especially on my cheeks. I think that some of the blush colors would be great for eyeshadow or even eye liner.
I also received a hand pumped sample of the Glorious Face and Eye Primer, however, because of my current Rosacea breakout, my dermatologist recommended that I not use any creme or gel other than my prescription face cream. I’ll be using it when I can. Primer is great, and I love using primer under my makeup to help keep my makeup from sweating or wearing off throughout the day. If you’ve never used primer it goes under your liquid foundation after you apply your moisturizer.

I’m saving the remaining samples for my next night out, as some of the colors are a little too dramatic for day time wear (at least for me!).
I received a sample pack of Younique Cosmetics and a full size lipgloss to facilitate my review, however, I was not otherwise compensated. Regardless, I only review and recommend products that I feel are of value to my readers.
